Advocacy journalism is a genre of journalism that intentionally and transparently adopts a non-objective viewpoint, usually for some social or political purpose. It is that field of journalism in which the writer or the publication expresses a subjective viewpoint or promotes a certain cause.Because it is intended to be factual,it is distinguished from propaganda.
Some advocacy journalist reject that the tradational idea of objectivity is possible in practise, either generally,or due to the presence of corporate sponsors in advertising. Some feel that the public interest is better served by a diversity of media outlets with a variety of transparent viewpoints.
Examples of advocacy journalism are like journalists writing that corruption should be abolished, that more environmentally friendly practises should be adopted or that government policy is harmful to business interest and should not be adopted etc. These journalists advocate for a certain cause. They take subjective stances.Advocacy journalists mainly focus their writings to promote their concerned topic.
